DEBRA KELLNER

Debra Kellner is a Canadian and European film director and photojournalist known for her emotionally rich and visually powerful storytelling. Her work spans cultures and continents, blending ancient wisdom, human displacement, and modern science into intimate, cinematic narratives.

She began her career with National Geographic and Paris Match before transitioning into documentary film. Based in Paris, Debra has also lived in Nepal and India, drawing lasting inspiration from the Himalayas.

Her latest film, Eternal Sky — now streaming on Apple TV and Amazon Prime — follows the construction of a revolutionary telescope in the Atacama Desert, where Indigenous worldviews meet cutting-edge astrophysics. The film was created in close collaboration with leading scientists, including the late Jim Simons.

Previous work includes Inside My Heart, an award-winning documentary on refugee families, and several short films supporting the International Rescue Committee and other global foundations.

Debra is currently developing Nirvana Is Coming, a fiction debut inspired by her time in the Himalayas — a Buddhist comedy that’s also a quiet search for purpose and meaning.

Whether in film or photography, Debra’s work is shaped by presence, instinct, and deep trust with her subjects. She adapts to every environment with intensity and care, capturing the human story beneath the surface.
